The release date of the much-awaited film Kadal is scheduled on February 1, 2013. The film's release was initially planned for January 2013 but with the likes of Kamal Hassan's Vishwaroopam also schedule for release around the same time, Mani Ratnam has reshuffle his project.
Kadal marks the debut of Gautham Karthik, son of actor Karthik and Tulasi Nair, younger daughter of yesteryear actress Radha. It also has action king Arjun, Sarja, Lakshmi Manchu and Aravind Swamy in important roles.
The film also brings together Mani Ratnam and Oscar award-winning music composer AR Rahman. The music of the film is getting superb response and a few tracks have already topped the chartbusters.
A romantic anecdote set in a coastal village backdrop, the film showcases the tensions prevailing over the missing fishermen in the high tides of the ocean. Kadal was shot in the locales of Andaman and Southern Tamil Nadu.
