Mahesh Babu Record in Telugu Industry
It's a known fact that Mahesh Babu is one Telugu star who enjoys great popularity overseas too. In fact, his Dookudu set an all new record for being the highest Tollywood grosser abroad. Now, according to the trade reports, his latest film, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu is all set to break Mahesh's old record. The film is already the second highest grosser, surpassing the Pawan Kalyan-starrer, Gabbar Singh, and inching closer towards breaking Dookudu's record of grossing 11 crores.
SVSC, which opened with a premiere show on January 10, collected $1.5 million by Sunday, a first for a Telugu film. With this distinction, Mahesh Babu has proved once again that he is the king of the overseas Tollywood market. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted, "Telugu film Naayak started with a bang in USA, but got eclipsed by SVSC when it opened... This film is is rewriting the rules of the game. The film has embarked on a mind-blowing start in its opening weekend."
Seethama Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu: In its opening weekend, the film has collected $12,62,100 (Rs. 6.87 crores) from 69 screens, with the per screen average working out to $18,291. Note: Thursday to Sunday (4 days) figures. Naayak: In its opening weekend, the film has collected $ 3,87,808 (Rs. 2.11 crores) from 54 screens, with the per screen average working out to $7,182. Note: Tuesday to Sunday (6 days) figures.
